It's a longstanding fact that I use Photoshop 5.0.2 with multiple processor support disabled. This is because my workplace does not have a 5.5 license for the mac. We have 6, 7, and 8. I also have 8 installed on my workstation, though I use Photoshop 5.0.2 in Classic. On a G5. If I open CS, it's by accident. There are many, many, many reasons why I stick with five. Recently, my Angst resurfaced and an adequate analogy fell out of my mouth. An analogy that quite accurately describes the differences between 5 and 6+.
